Arnold H. Deutchman

Dr. Deutchman has been active in the materials engineering and surface treatment industry for over 30 years, first in an academic and research environment at The Ohio State University, and continuously for the past 23 years in the industrial sector at Beamalloy Technologies, LLC.  He received his B.S. in Physics from Ohio University (Athens, OH) and his M.S. and Ph.D. degrees in Nuclear/Mechanical Engineering from The Ohio State University (Columbus, OH).   After receiving his doctorate, he spent 9 years as a faculty member and researcher in Ohio State’s Nuclear/Mechanical Engineering Department.

He left academics to co-found BeamAlloy Corporation, now doing business as Beamalloy Technologies, LLC, where he is currently Board Chairman and Director of Research and Product Development.  In his role as Director of R&D he is directly involved with the research, development, and application of ion implantation and ion-assisted deposition techniques and technologies for engineering the surfaces of metallic, ceramic, plastic, and glass components.  In his role as Board Chairman he is directly involved in marketing and sales activities as well as finance and administration, and helps direct short- and long-term business development.  He is the author of numerous articles published in a variety of scientific and trade journals, holds numerous patents, and lectures widely on surface engineering of materials.
