Surface-sensitive properties like hardness, wear-, and corrosion-resistance, and lubricity are key to the performance of today's advanced products. Surface treatments are often required to enhance the operating performance of metallic, ceramic, glass, and plastic components.

Beamalloy IBED technology offers an entirely new and versatile way to engineer the surfaces of manufacturing tooling and engineered components. A wide variety of metallurgical structures can be formed in and on the surfaces of components without producing any unwanted changes in their bulk mechanical properties. Beamalloy IBED is a physical alloying/coating process and as such offers many advantages over contentional surface coating techniques.
