Treating a Wide Range of Base Materials

Aerospace PartsToday’s aerospace industry makes use of many exotic and highly engineered materials. Light weight alloys, fiber composites, and advanced ceramics all need protection from extreme wear and corrosion.  Conventional coating processes like plating and physical vapor deposition oftentimes cannot guarantee optimum coating adhesion.  The IBED coating process, since it combines formation of an initial case layer in the surface of the material to be coated followed by growth of the coating out from this ballistically bonded case layer, allows optimum coating-substrate bonding.  Coatable substrates include bearing steels, nickel alloys, cobalt chrome alloys, titanium and titanium alloys, carbon-carbon epoxy composites, and high temperature ceramics.
